FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

• What is the orthopantomography?
The orthopantomogram, orthopantomography, dental panoramic tomography or simply OPG is a panoramic dental X-ray technique that provides the image of teeth, jaws - mandible and maxilla, and maxillary sinuses on a single x-ray film. It is used to evaluate the condition of all teeth and surrounding bone structures.

• How do I send you my orthopantomography?
You can send us your OPG via email or post. If you want to use email and you have your OPG on x-ray film, simply take a picture of it turning it towards a light source and send it to us. Our doctors will assess the situation and decide what is the best solution. Within a few days upon reception of the OPG, you will receive an estimate where the proposed dental works and the schedule of the treatments will be clearly indicated.

• What are dental implants?
Dental implants are titanium screws inserted into the jaw bone to replace a missing tooth. The implant replaces the tooth root and serves as a support for crowns, bridges or dentures.

• What is the age at which you can place an implant?
Dental implants can be inserted to patients over the age of 18.

• Is dental implantology a painful procedure?
Dental implantology is a painless treatment performed under local anesthesia, or in cases of strong odontophobia under conscious sedation. The pain that may occur after the surgery is easily resolved with painkillers.

• How long do dental implants last?
The duration of a dental implant depends on several factors. It is important that the patient who received dental implants maintain a good dental hygiene and visit their dentist regularly for a checkup. If the patient is otherwise healthy, implants can last a lifetime .

• Is it possible to extract a tooth and place an implant immediately after?
Immediate implant placement is only possible if the bone under the extracted tooth is in good condition and of a right volume.

• Can an implant can be loaded immediately after placement?
It is possible to proceed with the immediate loading of a dental implant only if it is well inserted and fixed in the bone. In that case, it is possible to proceed with the placement of a temporary crown. In all other cases the implant can be loaded only after 3 or 4 months.

• How long does it take to complete a dental implant treatment?
The lenght of treatment depends on the upper or lower jaw bone and the general health of the patient. In ideal conditions, the process can take 3-4 months, while in cases where the bone absence needs to be resolved with a transplant or an artificial bone, the treatment can last up to a year.

• How do I get a quote?
There are two ways to get our quote: you can send us your OPG (an orthopantomogram, a panoramic x-ray of your teeth, not older than 6 months) or come to us for a first checkup. In some cases we can also give you an estimate of costs based on a quote made by another dentist. Without the OPG, the first visit or quote from another dentist, we cannot give you an estimate because without a good overview of the situation we cannot provide an accurate quote.

• Are visits to your affiliated clinics free?
The first visit is free. The visit begins with the OPG from which we see the general state of the dental arches. After the visit and a brief conversation with the dentist an offer will be given you in writing on which the treatments planned for you and the schedule of your treatments will be clearly indicated.
